How long is the appointment?

Treatment time is approximately 10 minutes however may require extra time which is inclusive of the cost

Do I need to do anything before the appointment?

What will happen during my appointment?

When you first attend  for your appointment a consent form must be completed. your health care professional will check through this to confirm wax removal is the safest option for you or why this may not be right.  If the wax is soft enough the healthcare professional will use a disposable sterile tip to suction out the wax, if the wax is too hard you will be advised to apply more oil drops or bicarbonate of soda before returning for a free follow up appointment

What is micro-suction and is it safe?

Micro-suction is the safest most comfortable method for ear wax removal. A small thin tip is inserted carefully into the canal which is connected to the suction device which extracts the wax gently

Micro-suction is the safest method of removal for ear wax, which is pain free however some patients can experience small uncomfortable sensations as the wax passes through. Micro-Suction techniques pose a much lower risk compared to older methods and trained medical staff are on hand to assess all patient requirements before any work is undertaken

What are the potential risks and side effects?

While rare, potential risks include temporary dizziness, a feeling of fullness, minor irritation, or in very rare cases, damage to the ear canal

How Often should I have it done?

This varies from person to person, but some individuals may need it every few months, while others may only need it once a year or less - memberships are available for ongoing Micro suction treatment

What Aftercare guidelines  should I follow?

After micro-suction has been completed, it's generally recommended to avoid getting water in your ear for a few days and to avoid using cotton buds to clean your ears. We always advise if you experience any pain or discharge to consult with your GP immediately

Will My Micro-suction be performed by a Professional?

Yes, your treatment will be carried out by a registered professional who has also undertaken specialist Micro-suction training and certification and who also works under CQC regulations

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

We require a 48-hour notice period to move or cancel your appointment, failure to do so will result in the loss of your appointment cost as appointments are paid up front at the time of booking

Cryotherapy FAQS

What kind of skin lesions can be treated?

CryoPen can treat a variety of benign skin lesions, including warts, skin tags, age spots, and other superficial lesions. It is important to have a healthcare professional assess any lesion suspected of being cancerous or melanoma before treatment as part of a consultation

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is generally well-tolerated, with most people reporting only a mild stinging or prickling sensation, similar to a nettle sting. The freezing process itself may cause some discomfort, but this is usually brief. Some may experience stinging or itching after treatment, which usually subsides quickly

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment time varies depending on the size and depth of the lesion, but it's typically a quick procedure, ranging from a few seconds to a minute or two

What is the recovery like?

After treatment, the treated area may become red, swollen, and possibly blister. A scab will form over the treated area, and it will typically fall off within 1-3 weeks as the skin heals

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are usually mild and temporary, such as redness, swelling, and blistering. Hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin) can occur, particularly in darker skin tones, and should be discussed with the practitioner beforehand

Are there any contraindications or precautions?

Certain individuals, such as those with impaired sensation, circulation, or certain medical conditions, should consult with a doctor before undergoing CryoPen treatment. It is also important to avoid sun exposure and keep the treated area clean and dry during the healing process

Can anyone have CryoPen treatment?

While CryoPen is suitable for most people, certain skin types and conditions require careful consideration. For example, darker skin tones may be more prone to hypopigmentation. A consultation with a qualified healthcare professional is recommended to assess individual suitability and discuss any potential risks
